Embracing New Beginnings
Embracing New Beginnings
While 2020 has been a year of very unexpected events, the festive season is always a time to focus on the good things that have happened over the past 12 months and how much we have to be grateful for. While there’s no doubt that this year has been rough on all of us, as we look ahead to the new year we are so excited for all the new beginnings that 2021 will bring.
We are also looking forward to the New Year celebrations – granted, things may be more low key this year but we’ll still certainly find a way to enjoy ourselves in the way that only 2020 knows how! That’s why, first and foremost, we wanted to provide a little style inspiration for your New Year’s ensemble, and this year it’s all about the footwear.
Best Foot Forward
When you love to go all out with your style, New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse regardless of whether you’re staying in or going out – and there’s nothing else for it but a killer dress and statement heels. We often advise our customers to dress from the feet up because when your footwear is spot on, the rest will fall firmly into place.
Among our gorgeous collections, we have everyone’s favourite Manolo Blahniks – iconic in their own right, they were transformed into a cult classic by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. These leather heels will look beautiful with the Jacquard dress from Aidan Mattox - truly exceptional with a fully pleated skirt and elegant gold tones, it’s ideal for those who love a bit of extra sparkle. If you prefer the sparkle on your feet, we also adore these satin midi heels featuring luxurious crystal buckle, like something out of a fairytale. Pair up with a festive red crystal embellished cocktail dress from Jenny Packham for a bold and truly gorgeous look that will channel your inner Santa.
Our Tom Ford padlock heels have been another of our most lusted-after items this year, and will work well for a slick New Year’s vibe. With a choice of metallic silver leather, bronze satin or smooth black leather, this is the look for the woman who means business with her style – team up with a brightly coloured dress for an on-trend contrasting look or more muted tones for a effortlessly beautiful ‘70s siren vibe.
As the day wears on and if your feet are hurting, or if you simply prefer to wear flats, we’d like to let you in on the best-kept Shush secret of these brand new Chanel ballet shoes which look almost good enough to eat. Raspberry red-pink tones and patent leather epitomise the cute chic vibes while the minute leather bow and CC stitch logo complete every designer shoe lover’s fantasy. Beautiful as a way to dress up an evening outfit or brighten things up during the days, hurry and grab them before they go – they won’t stay secret for long!
For those who love a bright vibe, we also love these super-cute flats from Valentino L’amour. Crafted in bright red silk and made as part of an artist collaboration for super limited edition style points, they are as beautiful as they are comfortable.
Wrapping up Warm
Now that your New Year’s style is firmly on point, let’s look ahead to 2021 and what we can expect to be a long winter. With the cold snap lasting well into the new year, it’s not all doom and gloom because this is the perfect time to invest in some super-chic designer accessories that are made to last in terms of style and comfort.
Among our vast and cosy selection of coats, scarves and boots, we have some firm favourites. When it comes to outerwear, this Max Mara puffer jacket ticks the practical and stylish boxes firmly to ensure you always look beautifully put together regardless of the occasion. On the super-luxurious end of the scale, we are besotted with this Chanel Paris Moscow cashmere knitted jacket where the classic double breasted style meets exquisite black and silver crested "CC' logo buttons for the epitome of elegance. This charcoal grey Christian Dior wool coat completes our hat-trick. Featuring fox fur collar, an A-line style and 100% silk lining, it has barely been worn and is presented in excellent condition.
As an easy and super-elegant way to elevate a look, a classic scarf (or two) should also feature in your winter wardrobe. Brighten up the dark days with this multicoloured scarf from Missoni, channel Parisian chic with this Chanel silk camellia scarf in paisley print or embrace the quirky vibe of this Karl Lagerfeld silk number with hand-stitched rolled hem. Wear loose around the neck or tie in a side knot for instant European-style sophistication.
Finally, we come to winter footwear and the eternal boot. We tend to wear our winter boots day in, day out with every single outfit which calls for a clean, classic choice. You can’t go wrong with these Miu Miu black leather ankle boots – the chunky heel is everything we need from winter fashion. We also have our eye on this show stopping pair of over-the-knee boots from Chanel that also happen to be Kendall Jenner’s footwear of choice. With gold metal detailing, toe caps with studs, embossed pattern and easy zip closure, they’ll show 2021 that you mean business.
Happy New Year!
There’s a very different feel this year as we approach the new year and for those of us who had planned to travel abroad to visit partners, friends and family, this year’s festivities may be a little bittersweet. But we are determined to enjoy the season with a glass half-full attitude and close off a very turbulent year with as much happiness and joy as possible. From our team at Shush, we’d like to wish you a very happy new year. We hope that 2021 is the year that all your dreams come true.
